This little light of mine

26 Dec

Love is the only answer you will ever need

God gave me this light that shines through me. It is my blessing, and I consider it a gift to share that light. If I could fill each heart with this light, I would. This light is Holy Love and it comes into your heart as you get to know Christ. It is serenity and joy in the knowledge that Heaven waits for me; from conversations with the Lord and reading His words.

This incredible love that fills my heart, makes my skin prickle, my eyes water and my heart soar, is a gift. I did nothing to earn it, I can’t lose it, and I am not exchanging it or keeping it to myself.

Matthew 5:16 The Message “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

I have people in my life that by today’s standards of how we “should” behave, “should not” be. Example; I care much for my children’s father, and consider my children’s step-mom a dear friend. I love her, Love being a verb, and she loves me in return.
1 Peter 1:22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart
I choose to let the light of HIS love shine THROUGH me, even to those that have hurt me, attacked me, rejected me or those that are consumed with fear or distrust. This is an act of love that has blessed me in ways I can’t begin to put into words. There are just no words to describe this selfless love. It is intensely joyful and releasing.

When I seek to befriend, even if only in prayer, every person I come into contact with, I end up blessing myself as well. I have learned also that love has nothing to do with trust. You don’t have to trust someone to love them. People will disappoint, just as we will disappoint others. We can’t help it. We are sinners. So we don’t have to trust anyone in order to just simply love them. In action.

How we move through our lives is a decision we make at every turn. I choose love. I hold no grudges in life, I have no regret. I have atoned for the hurt I may have caused those that I have loved poorly at times. I love the Lord and He loves me right back.

Because of His example towards me, I choose to love people with the same lack of conditions that He showed me. My life is so full of joy and peace because of this choice.

I have learned as well, there are those that will try to discredit me, lie, attack, try to sabotage me, hate me even. Now I have learned, if someone calls me unGodly, I consider it a blessing! God loves that the best!

On the days I am not my best, the days I don’t love well, I pray and seek to understand the fear or selfishness that creates this reaction, I have learned to ask for the wisdom, and he shows me.

Ephesians 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Galatians 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
