No More Frogs!

13 Oct

Matthew West says:
These are the voices, these are the lies
And I have believed them, for the very last time
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I’ve been saved, I’ve been changed, and I have been set free

My take away from the Women of Faith conference 2014: We cannot walk with purpose, our purpose, without reconciling who we are in Christ over who we think or have been told we are. Do not doubt for one second that you are perfectly molded and created by loving hands, to be loved and worth more than rubies!Inspite of whom the devil would rather you believe you are.

Romans 9: 20-33 Who in the world do you think you are to second-guess God? Do you for one moment suppose any of us knows enough to call God into question? Clay doesn’t talk back to the fingers that mold it, saying, “Why did you shape me like this?” Isn’t it obvious that a potter has a perfect right to shape one lump of clay into a vase for holding flowers and another into a pot for cooking beans? If God needs one style of pottery especially designed to show his angry displeasure and another style carefully crafted to show his glorious goodness, isn’t that all right?

“If God gives us new Mercy every single day,why are we not giving that away? Especially mercy to ourselves?”

“God gives us a little bit, then He gives us a little more, then He gives us much.”
For those of you trying to read the bible, keep reading it… God didn’t ask you to “get”it.. he asked you to obey it! It isn’t what you know, it’s what you internalize through your brokenness. His thoughts and words will permeate if you start just doing it, rather than reading it.

It takes courage to own your own issues. When you take steps to please God He moves you in your broken places
If you are sin focused (Religion) you are missing the point of Jesus: He is the antidote to sin. It isn’t about getting it right it’s about being set free.

Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)
28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

You have no control but what is in your head! “We are so good at arranging a life that doesn’t require faith”. Faith says differently than the familiar tape we play to hang on tight to what actually has not worked out in the past.

God doesn’t just want us to survive, he wants to set us free. When Jesus fed the thousands, he essentially asked you the same of you … what do you have? When we give our not enough to God it is more than enough.

Exodus 8:9-11
9 Moses said to Pharaoh, “Certainly. Set the time. When do you want the frogs out of here, away from your servants and people and out of your houses? You’ll be rid of frogs except for those in the Nile.”
10-11 “Make it tomorrow.
Moses said, “Tomorrow it is—so you’ll realize that there is no God like our God. The frogs will be gone.

First…. What are your frogs? Secondly, do you operate from tomorrow? We cannot step into our purpose with our frogs.
Jesus set us free! We settle for the comfortable, we have grown so used to our frogs when we could be free. Not tomorrow. Today.
The blood of Jesus set us free:

John 10:10 (AMP)
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows).

Decide today that you are not going to let yesterdays frogs keep you from stepping with hope and confidence in your tomorrow.
Lift your head up high for who you are in Christ!

You are created by God, For God. Jesus is the connector, Jesus is the freedom. You are set free.

God gives you a little, then more, then much… You cannot jump to full wisdom, though you can seek it. He will allow you to walk your purpose, when He sees fit. Be transparent and be generous with your Hope. Your purpose will find you, when you are fully His.

The Summer Day
Mary Oliver
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

Only the Lonely

14 Dec

Galatians 2:20(NIV)
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

The truest of Christmas joys is mine as full understanding of what Hope lies in this season settles on my heart; The richness is beyond words, lonely too.

I am in a refining time. He is grooming me, working in me, preparing and pruning me. It is uncomfortable yet inspires great hope in me and can be a very lonely time for me as well.

There is something about this Holy connective state that separates me, not just from the world itself but I even feel set apart from other Christians. It is like being in “The Zone” with Him, suddenly the world just doesn’t fit. It requires time alone with Him, and He creates it. It is a time for deep, quiet reflection. Being in constant touch with Him, creates a distance from others and a need for silence (and I am not a silent girl!). I have a longing to share this with someone, but how can you share this?

This is beyond words. He fills my heart to overflowing yet even in that I have a longing. This relationship at times feels so impossible, at others, so rich, so lyrical, enlightened and inspiring. Growing times can be so difficult, as we become perfected in His teaching, prepared for what our journey brings us to.

What I find so curious, the more I learn, the more I need to seek. He creates an appetite to learn more, to gain more understanding and clarity, yet what is clear today becomes less clear. Obedience is easy and difficult;Wisdom elusive, yet ours for the asking. Oh what a rich life!
The road to become Holy is not easy…But Wow! What a blessing!

John 17:6-18 (NIV)

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

6 “I have revealed you[a] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of[b] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by[c] that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

Romans 13:14 (NIV)
14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.[a]

Romans 12:2(NIV)
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Proverbs 27:7
One who is full loathes honey from the comb,
but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet.
